How big do your Yorkies get? Are they teacup Yorkies?
-
No, "teacup" Yorkies are not a recognized breed actually. They are just small Yorkies! There is no classification for "teacup" Yorkies. The standard size is 7 pounds. While there is no way to 100% predict the adult size of our pups, we do like to stay between 5-7 pounds. If breeding smaller than that, they tend to have all kinds of medical concerns.
Are Yorkies hypoallergenic?
-
While no dog breed is truly hypoallergenic, Yorkies are considered less allergenic than many others because they have hair, not fur, and don’t tend to shed.
What is the lifespan of a Yorkie (Yorkshire Terriers)?
-
Yorkshire Terriers have a lifespan between 11 to 15 years. As great companion dogs, they'll spend most of their life right by your side or in your lap.
What is special about Yorkies?
-
Yorkies love their owners and are very intelligent and eager to please. Training with treats and lots of praise works far better than harsh corrections.
How long do Yorkies stay black?
-
While Yorkie puppies are born with black and tan coloring, this will change over your dog's first two years of life. Starting around nine to 10 weeks, the first sign of silver or gold should start to appear on the top of the Yorkie's head.
Can you house-train a Yorkie to "go potty" outside?
-
Absolutely. Even though they are small, they do prefer to "go potty" outside. It just takes patience, like with any breed. Praise for a job well done rather than correction works best.
